Venice – Travel Tips

VeniceVenice is probably one of the most beautiful and the most atypical city in the world.

Many tourists flock there and it’s sometimes difficult to find a good accommodation or a good restaurant among the thousands that you will find.

Here is a few tips that can help you plan your trip.

Best time to go:

No matter when you choose to go, you should know that the city will be crowded anyway. We left in June and the period was pretty good. Know that every season has it charm in Venice.

Flight:

We booked 6 months before our trip, so the plane tickets were almost free ! 50€ one return flight via Easy Jet from Paris CDG.

From airport to Venice:

To get to the city center from Marco Polo Airport the easiest and cheapest way is the bus.
You will find two companies directly out of the airport:

  • ATVO
  • ACTV line 5

Find schedules here

Prices are equal and the schedules are slightly shifted to allow you to take the first bus that you will met.
You can buy your tickets on theairport terminal or directly on the departure platform.

Price : 16€ one return

Be careful, find place to stay in Venice is not as simple as it seems, there is a very high demand and the hosts sometimes tend to abuse about it. In addition to the price of the night it is possible that you will be charged for a late arrival (between 20 and 80 euros).

We opted after many unfortunate booking for an Airbnb with an automatic checkin.

The room was well equipped and above all, the location was perfect to move around the city.
